The percentage of mental health issues in homeless young women is an alarming one and there is serious need to address the problem urgently (Mechanic, 2008). This population consists of only women and they are people who are vulnerable to various dangers including rape and kidnap. The ages of the majority of them are surprising as most of them are adolescents between 14 and 18 years old. It is unimaginable having a woman of such tender age living away from protection and safety. The pregnant women or those who may get pregnant while after being throne out are also prone to more future health problems later when they give birth. According to Huffing Post (2012), Los Angeles may be known for the glamour of Hollywood and the Beverly Hills, but it is also the homeless capital of America. Of 51,000 homeless people live in Los Angeles County, Female homeless accounts for 33% to 50%. The rates of pregnancy among the young women is going up on almost daily basis and it is now higher than the rates those women who have access to homes in the U.S. Research that has been carried out is showing how this population is at risk in terms of their health (Mechanic, 2008).
