The invasion of the Caribbean by Europeans caused a significant change of the lives of the indigenous community living in island, they were the Arawaks and the Caribs . The saddest effect was the introduction of highly contagious diseases from Europe. these kind of diseases for example measles led to deaths of many young children The massive entry of the Europeans led to a change in the cultural norms and values of the natives also affected was their political system of leadership and ex posed to Christianity for which they were never aware of. They were also forced to work as slaves and most of their land taken over and further subdivided in order to accommodate the ever rising number of population entering the Caribbean

THE SUGAR REVOLUTIONS

The decision to plant and exploit sugar in the Caribbean is the most crucial point in explaining the population upsurge in the Caribbean which mainly came about from the importation of the greatest number of slaves from the Africa’s Guinea coast, to date the population of the Africans is higher in the Caribbean. But initially before they came to the African continent for slaves, they used to bring the slaves from Netherlands to the Caribbean. Due to the presents of many slaves it let to more cultivation of more sugar plantations in almost all parts of the Caribbean. During this revolution most of whites became wealthy except of a few of them who could not be wealthy and as a result resulted in the formation of classes that is; the rich and the poor, out of these classes the rich who were highly respected in the society, dealt with slave trade as well as their involvement in sugar plantation.. The poor whites involved in their own small scale farming activities, service delivery mainly in the police force and later taken to the smith mines because there was a great fear of employing many whites in the sugar plantations because of fear, that they could collaborate with the blacks to overthrow the rich whites who were in power.
