Iran is among the second leading country in the world in terms of having natural gas reservoirs and deposits, which is estimated to be approximately 26 trillion cubic metres. In the past, not enough consideration has not been given to the gas fields of the country but it is rich in terms of natural gas reserves, which are found in unconnected natural gas fields (Nasseri and Daya, 2007). More than a total of 15.5 % of natural gas present in the world is found in Iran and the government of Iran is now giving significance to plans that are bent upon taking advantage of these huge amounts of natural resources. Gas was not used as a separate commodity in the past but as an integral part of oil as oil fields were injected with gas and the target was set to provide with gas infused oil. With the passage of time, the significance of gas was realized by Iranian government, which set up two goals for its government in terms of consumption of present natural gas reservoirs (WWP, 2006). The first aim is the replacement of oil with gas for domestic purposes to save more crude or raw stuff for exportation. The second objective is to become be a the foremost and chief exporter or trader of gas by 2005 (Petrochemical Industry and Market of Iran, 2005). Currently, Iranian government has geared up various projects regarding gas productivity and trading. The government has started many projects related to natural gas trade and exportation. Many opportunities are created related to exploitation of natural gas reserves. In terms of domestic utilization and consumption, many nationwide programs have been commenced so that, the natural gas becomes the major source in terms of energy for domestic and factorial or industrial utilization (Nasseri and Daya, 2007). Therefore, household usage as well as industrial usage of natural gas has been greater than before during the past years.
