Christopher Columbus ventured in the Caribbean island in October 12, 1492 with a main intention of exploring gold deposits gold, but in vain he could not achieve his target, he then decided to re-organize his mission and therefore he decided to come back in 1493 (George) .It is here he decided to storm the island with his voyage which included farmers, craftsmen and behind this were the missionaries who were suppose to convert the locals in the then expansive Caribbean. Columbus therefore had to ask for money to help him succeed in his mission strategy from the wealthy King and the Queen of Europe. Unfortunately Columbus had taken persons with bad character and behavior because what his people were doing was to take the women of the locals and at the same time going with their farm produce. The also demanded to be paid some dues and thus causing a war to break out between them and the locals.

SLAVERY

The 18th century was the turning point in Caribbean history when slavery was introduced to the islands. A high quantity of sugar was in great demand by traders from various parts of Europe, the product of sugarcane, which was suited in the temperate weather conditions of the island. This meant that a lot of work force was needed to work in this sugarcane plantations, this was boosted by the growing demand for sugar.

The indigenous communities known as the Arawaks were originally European’s slaves but the problem is that they were quickly dying. During that time slave trade was very common in the European and Arab native lands. As days unfolded there was a suggestion to enslave the Africans .Everything was put in place to make sure that the process would succeed since they were now making a lot of money from the activity, they now began the process of slavery. These slaves were sourced from Africa particularly the Guinea coast through the collaboration with the local government. Slave trade now became an advantage to the local government which tactically arranged for the slave capture.
